About me

FELICIA NNENNA ENE, is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department, Arts and Social Sciences Education, Godfrey Okoye University Professor of Language Education and also Head of Arts Education Department, Godfrey Okoye University, Enugu.

She was born in Amofiagu Affa in Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria, to the family of Chief Mathias Ngwunecheibe (Chinenyeze 1 of Affa and Chief Mrs Cecilia Nwanyinkwo Odigbo. Professor Felicia Ene holds a PhD in English Language Education, a Masters degree in English as well as in Guidance and Counselling and of course, a first degree in English Language Education. She started with an NCE )Nigerian Certificate in Education with specialization in English Language and Geography at Alvan Ikoku College of Education. For over thirty years, she has been actively involved in the education system at different levels, in different parts of Nigeria.

She has taught English language and Literature. She taught at Girls’ High School Awkunanaw ; Uwani Secondary School, Uwani; Queens School, Enugu, before she was promoted to the post of Principal where she worked for twelve years before she voluntarily retired as supervising principal in Udi Education Zone. Following the acquisition of a doctoral degree in English Language Education.

In 2006, she took up appointment with Ebonyi State University Abakiliki on a leave of absence. At the same time, She taught Eeenglish and Literature to degree students at Enugu State College of Education which was affiliated to Nnamdi Azikiwe University Awka. She also taught at NTI (National Teachers’ Institute) for several years before being appointed the NTI coordinator for their PGDE (Post Graduate Diploma in Education for five years. She also taught at Ebonyi State University, at the institute of Ecumenical Education where she rose to become a Dean of schools. At present, she is a professor of Education at Godfrey Okoye University where she is Head of Department of Arts Education. She worked as General Coordinator for Use of English. Coordinator for Undergraduate and post graduate programmes. As an administrator she is actively involved in curriculum development and planning. She is actively involved in many committees including being Chairman of Faculty Local Organizing Committees of Conferences and workshops, Admissions and Mass Education Committees. She is a member of several professional organizations such as Curriculum Organization of Nigeria, Reading Association of Nigeria, English Language Teacher’s Association of Nigeria.

Her English Language teaching has taken her to the United King for a special course on the teaching of English as a Second Language and it has made her travel the length and breath of Nigeria in a TOT train the trainer programme. As a British Scholar, she became a Consultant to British Council and later to NTI that is national Teachers’ Institute.

Professor Ene has attended over sixty conferences and workshops, authored up to 12 books, some of them literary, others professional, several book chapters and thirty six journal articles. Four of her books have been listed , since 2010 till date, by Enugu and Anambra State Ministry of Education for use in the secondary school system and some have been reviewed by Radio Nigeria.

Professor Felicia Ene has been involved in lots of societal organizations such as national Council of Women Societies as Financial Secretary in Enugu State; Nigerian Association of Women Entrepreneurs (NAWE), Red Cross Society, Ohanaeze Ndigbo where she held several positions.

She is married with children.
